Wet steam refers to steam containing moisture. Wet steam will reduce equipment production efficiency and product quality, and can also cause equipment damage. While traps can remove most moisture, they cannot handle the liquid droplets suspended in the steam. In order to separate these suspended droplets, Nanjing Beite recommends installing a air separator on the steam pipe.
Steam contains moisture, which can cause:
1. Cause the control valve and flow meter to work abnormally.
2. Rapid wear or water hammer will cause the flow meter and control valve to fail.
3. Water is a poor conductor of heat. The presence of water will reduce production efficiency and product quality.
4. Water droplets flowing at high speed together with steam will corrode the valve seat and other related parts.
5. Since water droplets carry a lot of impurities, they will increase scale on the surfaces of pipes and heat exchangers.
The purpose of the air separator is to remove moisture suspended in the steam that cannot be drained through the trap.
Baffle type steam-water separator: It is composed of many baffles, and the fluid changes the flow direction multiple times in the separator. Since the suspended water droplets have large mass and inertia, when the flow direction of the baffle changes, the dry steam can bypass the baffle and continue forward, while the water droplets will accumulate on the baffle, causing the steam-water separator to have a great impact. The flow area reduces the kinetic energy of water droplets, most of which will condense and finally fall to the bottom of the separator and be discharged through the drain valve.
